For a very long time, the term aphrodisiac was, basically, a description of something mythical. Sure, some people here and there claimed that they knew of a genuine aphrodisiac; but those claims never resulted in the mad rush that an actual, reliable aphrodisiac would have created. But what about booze (liquor)? Isnt booze an aphrodisiac? Liquor can reduce inhibitions, but liquor certainly doesnt reliably improve intimacy performance and enhance sensation.
Viagra was the first certified enhancer available on a wide scale. Though Viagra is technically a treatment for a medical condition -- impotence, also known by its polite name erectile dysfunction -- Viagra allows for intimacy performance, and also increases climax.
The world hasnt been the same since Viagra came on the scene.
In truth, Viagra is a bit of a chauvinistic elixir: its only for the guys. Viagra also has the drawback of being a prescription-only product. This hasnt stopped millions of resourceful fellows from, somehow or other, securing a supply of Viagra without going through the typical process of visiting their local MD and getting a prescription. But, in truth, in the United States at least, Viagra should only be dispensed to men with certifiable ED (erectile dysfunction). Though, unfortunately, millions of men do in fact have ED, millions more dont have it -- but some of these guys obviously want to use an intimacy enhancer anyway; so they black-marketed Viagra.
Someone somewhere was obviously following this story, because, before you knew it, there were -- tadah! -- non-prescription Viagra alternatives available. And were these Viagra alternatives a hit? You bet your intimacy enhancer they were. All those non-ED guys, and maybe some of the ED guys too, could now get their aphrodisiac going without having to break some law, or confess a personal medical problem to their doc. It was the flip side of the law of Supply And Demand: create a demand, and someone will produce a supply.
In a stroke of marketing genius, some of the Viagra alternatives got famous adult performers to endorse their products. And why not?
When attempting to sell a jackhammer, who do you get to tell the masses about how well your jackhammer pounds?
A construction worker, of course.
